Filling Earth's Oceans with Water

Scientists have suspected much of Earth's water came from space early in our planetary history. Their prime suspect? A rain of comets, asteroids and carbon-rich meteorites called carbonaceous chondrites. Now, per a report in the journal Science Advances, the so-called Winchcombe meteorite provides clear and convincing support for this theory.
