JONATHAN Greening says his Scarborough Athletic side will learn valuable lessons after the Seadogs were blown away by fast-starting Forest Green Rovers at The New Lawn.
Greening’s men were just seconds away from knocking out League Two Rovers in the initial tie, before teenager Olly Sully popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser.
And that inspired a strong opening from Rovers with Teddy Jenks putting them in front inside five minutes and Kyle McAllister adding a second from the penalty spot.
Jamie Robson and Harvey Bunker made it 4-0 inside 35 minutes before Alex Wiles pulled one back for Scarborough with a fine strike from 20 yards out.
A much-improved second-half display at least gave the 280-strong travelling supporters something to cheer, only for sub-Tyrese Omotoye to add a fifth goal f and deem Michael Coulson's late goal back as consolation.
