Charles, who is still undergoing cancer treatment, and Camilla enjoyed a rest day after their gruelling flight from the UK.

They were met with cheers from the hundreds of well-wishers as they arrived at St Thomas' Anglican Church in Sydney.

Charles, 75, and Camilla, 77, spoke to children from the Sunday school group who were brimming with enthusiasm. Governor General Sam Mostyn, who greeted the King, said to the youngsters: "I hope you love meeting him, it's a rare treat."

Camilla, wearing a pale green Anna Valentine dress and straw hat, was given a posy before she and the King were received by the Archbishop of Sydney, the Most Rev Kanishka Raffel and the Bishop of North Sydney, the Right Rev Chris Edwards.
