Plea over stranded Brits. 71 docs trapped in war

MEDICS desperate to trace NHS colleagues stranded in war-torn Sudan have accused No10 of being too slow to evacuate them.

And they are begging ministers to act fast in a bid to save the 71 doctors who are among 4,000 trapped Brits as food, water and electricity run out.

Hopes were raised last night after a 72-hour ceasefire was called, but they have been broken before.

And as fears grow for the safety of the Brits, Dr Reem Taha, 35, urged No10: "Act quickly, please.

"Help evacuate these UK citizens and get them home, adding: "So far, the Government has been very slow." She pointed out other nations have evacuated citizens, while Britain got only embassy staff out of the capital Khartoum.

Those remaining face a terrifying choice of staying in Sudan without food and water or getting shot trying to flee. The battle raging between Sudan's army and the Rapid Support Force has so far left 427 people dead.
