OFFICERS carry out a raid at an address as they crack down on what they believe is a new kind of birth certificate scam helping people remain in the UK fraudulently.

A 28-year-old man was led away after being arrested in connection with the alleged conspiracy.

Crooks are raking in a fortune by helping men fraudulently stay in the country by pretending they have a British child, Home Office investigators say.

Criminals are roping in single mums to take part in the scam by offering them thousands of pounds.

Birth certificates with no named father on them are being re-registered, falsely stating that a man seeking permission to remain in the UK is the father.
