THE King's first Birthday Honours List is a glowing reference to the courage, sacrifice and dedication of ordinary British people.
And while shameless Boris Johnson dishes out gongs to Tory cronies and Partygate aides in return only for their loyalty, these unsung heroes truly deserve their awards.
The King is said to be delighted with today's list, which honours community heroes, charity fundraisers, NHS staff, aid workers and refugee supporters.
A source said: "Everyone is thrilled about the honours, it really feels as though the best of the best have been recognised.
