England put Kiwis to the sword

HARRY BROOK turned on the afterburners to steer England to a dominant seven-wicket win over New Zealand as befits the world champions.

In their first T20 match on home soil since claiming the crown Down Under in November, England produced a clinical display in front of a sell-out Durham crowd.

And it was that man Brook yet again who continues to make international batting look like the easiest thing in the world with 43 from 27 balls.

With Dawid Malan adding another international half-century to his collection from 42 balls, there was never any doubt they would overhaul New Zealand's modest 139-9, but they walloped them with 36 balls to spare. Both these batsmen were a part of England's World Cup-winning campaign last winter, but as things stand just one of them will be a part of the next one in October.

Malan just keeps churning out the runs in an England shirt, but there is something magical about Brook, 24, who is just about the cleanest striker in the game right now.
