Energy bills down.. but not for long

HOUSEHOLDS will shave just £17 off their energy after a price cap was lowered.

And the bad news is that bills are set to rise again in the autumn.

Regulator Ofgem's cap will supposedly reduce the average annual gas and electrify bill by £122 - to £1568 over the next 12 months.

But households typically use just 20 per cent of annual electricity, and less than 10 per cent of gas, over the summer.

The typical savings over the next three months will be about £17, according to analysis by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit.

As consumption begins to increase in the autumn, Ofgem's price cap is predicted to rise again.
