Mary Poppins star Glynis dies at 100

GLYNIS Johns was a star of stage and screen for more than seven decades – but she will be best remembered for her iconic role as suffragette mother Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins.

Described by her manager Mitch Clem as "the last of the last of old Hollywood", the British actress died yesterday aged 100.

Clem revealed that she passed away from natural causes at an assisted living home in LA.

He added: "Today a sad day for Hollywood." Before Glynis's death, she was asked what it was like to turn 100 on October 5 last year. She replied:
