POLICE have vowed to hunt down thugs who left a female officer injured and vehicles damaged during Halloween riots.

Police vehicles were targeted with fireworks, bricks and other missiles as officers tackled rioting in two areas of Edinburgh.

Chief Superintendent David Robertson said: "Anyone who thinks they will evade justice - you will be identified and you will be held to account for your actions." Families were left terrified as gangs of youths in Niddrie and Moredun used fireworks as weapons to target locals.

Images of the aftermath show every window at the entrance of Moredun House smashed.
