ANAS Sarwar has said he will âwork with the SNPâ to see if Scotland can have a more generous winter fuel payment.
The scheme to help pensioners pay for heating bills during the coldest months is due to be means tested.
Sarwar said the decision to end the universal payment by Chancellor Rachel Reeves was the right one. The Scottish Government has announced a new pension age winter heating payment which will also be means tested.
On a visit to Glasgow yesterday, the Scottish Labour leader said: "Rachel Reeves has said that this a decision that she did not want to have to make.
