LIVERPOOL boss Arne Slot has already phoned Darwin Nunez to tell the Uruguayan striker he wants him to be the frontman for his Reds revolution.

After being asked to fill the huge void left by Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield exit, Slot knows the £85million forward became disillusioned under the German last season.

One of Slot’s first jobs after landing in Liverpool was to call Nunez during his preparations for Copa America to assure him he sees him as capable of playing a significant role.

Nunez’s selfless running will be crucial to Slot’s plan to press from the front – and the star was delighted to hear his new boss recognises what he can bring to the Liverpool team.

The forward, 25, is taking time off to recover from a dismal Copa America which ended with him leaping into the stand to trade blows with Colombian fans after a bitter semi-final defeat.
