The precious metal topped $2,340 an ounce at one point, having outrun global equities and bonds with an advance of more than 13% this year.
UBS now sees a year-end $2,500, noting a rally that's been faster and more forceful than its already bullish expectations.
Demand for non-interest bearing bullion has been driven by the outlook for lower US interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty, while strong central bank buying has also lifted the price.
