SIR Keir Starmer was today meeting police chiefs to discuss whether they needed more support to tackle far-Right violence after this weekâs riot in Southport was followed by disturbances in Whitehall and elsewhere in the country last night.
The Prime Minister was telling senior officers during talks at No10 that they have his âfull backingâ in the face of the disorder and was expected to discuss whether more needed to be done to tackle the problem.
It came after police made more than 100 arrests at a far-Right protest in Whitehall last night with flares being fired towards Downing Street and the statue of Winston Churchill.
The Met said those detained were held for offences ranging from violent disorder, assault on an emergency worker, and breach of protest conditions. âWe want our country backâ, âSave our kidsâ and âStop the boatsâ were among the slogans chanted during the confrontation.
