Salford hold firm for hard-fought victory

SALFORD - 22

LEEDS RHINOS - 16

Leeds needed to win to keep up with the top six and they took full advantage of Tim Lafai’s sin-binning with tries from Matt Frawley and Alfie Edgell but Kallum Watkins pulled the hosts back into the contest after Rhyse Martin was also shown yellow.

Brodie Croft notched against his former side to restore Leeds’ two-try lead but Salford replied through Watkins’ second.

Salford were much better in the second half – Joe Mellor put the Devils in front before Marc Sneyd kicked two penalties either side of James Bentley’s sin-binning to strengthen their chances of a playoff finish.
