VOLUNTEERS have found a large amount of litter in Chorlton Brook, leading to the River Mersey - including plastic bottles, beer cans and blue latex gloves.
Litter has 'congested' the brook in recent years and those who take the time to clean the river are warning others of the dangers littering can do to our environment here in Manchester.
Peter Dennis, a freshwater biologist, who volunteers cleaning the river with his friends and son, said:
"Back in lockdown, my daily walk would go by the river and I could see all the litter in the water and that's when I started collecting it. If it's not collected or recycled, on it goes into the river and then it's gone forever in the water."
