THE ex-partner of a senior GMP officer has told a jury he strangled her so hard 'I resigned myself to the fact I was going to die.
Former chief inspector Mark Warner, 56, is alleged to have set upon his partner at their home in Whitworth, near Rochdale, after she recorded him verbally abusing her. His partner said: "I felt like he wanted to kill me and knew how to. I had gone from the point where I thought he might. I had resigned myself to it and wanted to die.
"It almost got to the point of not being scared because I had resigned myself to the fact I was going to die." Opening the trial at Preston Crown Court, Adam Lodge, prosecuting, said Mr Warner had been in a relationship with the woman from 2018. He moved into her home at the start of the Covid lockdown in 2020 and they bought a home together in Whitworth in January 2022.
