There were five arrests, including a man detained for assaulting an officer after a group from the Stand Up to Racism demonstration tried to storm through a police cordon.
Pushing and shoving also broke out when officers intervened near the rally stage to arrest a woman for common assault. She was later "de-arrested" after agreeing to provide her details.
Two arrests were also made at a farright Uniting the Kingdom demonstration, one for a racially aggravated public order offence. A further arrest was made after a remark was directed at an officer.
