Carroll added a maximum and a 97 checkout while Wayne Davis was also prominent for the defeated team with a maximum of his own.
Carroll's finish was beaten twice by the Keyham team with Stan Preen and Nick Bryant hitting out-shots of 100 and 115 respectively.
A Dave Jones 180 was the main highlight as Mainstone took an 8-3 win from their trip to Shakespeare to give them a first win of the campaign.
Cherry Tree B took an 8-3 win over Ker St B to give themselves a six-point lead in Division A with Kieran Harris and Rob Edmonds both performing well.
Harris added the only maximum of the match while Edmonds 91 checkout was the highest across all 11 ties played during a good evening for the title challengers.
Falstaff A won 7-4 in their visit to Ker St C with one of the 42-ton-plusses coming from an Alan Jewell 126 checkout for the victors.
There was also a maximum for each team with Jewell's teammate Dave Jarvis adding to a Robbie Bisgrove effort in the first leg of the match.
John Nixon produced a brilliant 118 checkout in a 10-1 win for leaders St Johnston A in a 10-1 win over Ker St D during a Division C clash.
The Keyham team now hold a 14-point lead over Queens Dock who were downed by Half Moon's second win of the campaign; a 7-4 success.
Jolly Miller returned from their trip to Falstaff B with an 8-3 victory while Weston Mill made it two wins from four starts with a 9-2 success at Stoke Inn.
In Division B, St Johnston C made it five wins from five starts with a hard-fought 8-3 win over Ker St A that saw both Martin Dean and Jonathan Easterbrook hit a maximum a piece for either side.
