McDonald's worker in manager attack claim

A MCDONALD's worker in Plymouth claimed she was attacked by her senior manager when she was just 17. Every chain in the UK of the global fast food chain has been warned of legal action after young staff members made sexual harassment claims across the country more than a year ago.

An investigation by the BBC uncovered more than 100 claims of sexual assault, harassment, racism and bullying in numerous outlets of McDonald's. The claims, made in July 2023, came five months after McDonald's signed an agreement with the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to protect its staff from sexual harassment.

The EHRC agreement is reportedly applied to the owners and not the franchises, but the most recent letter to 1,400 McDonald's restaurants states that the business must comply with the Equality Act or face enforcement. The letter said that restaurants could introduce steps to prevent sexual harassment including regular risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and a system to deal with complaints sensitively and effectively.
