A PLYMOUTH Reverend has launched a ground-breaking initiative to make a difference to those in need. After two years of planning, a new hair salon has opened on Mutley Plain, with a mission to "uplift" those facing financial or social hardships.
The project behind the salon is "ensuring that everyone" has access to personal care services - which help to build confidence and self-esteem.
The salon's director, Reverend Darren Middleton, has trained as a hairdresser over the last three years, while also looking after four churches in Plymouth.
Hair salon REV7 - which will be officially opened today by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon, Richard Stevens, MBE will offer a full range of hair care services, from haircuts and styling to colour treatments - all delivered by Rever end Darren.
The multi-talented Methodist minister previously enjoyed a career as a professional dancer and he was Padre with 29 Commando Regiment RA British Army for six years.
