Octagon confirmed as champions after victory

JOHN Mann's seventeen ton plusses wasn't bettered by any competitor during Octagon's Plymouth City Super League game week 43 8-3 win over Bluebird.

Individually, Mann was pushed all the way to that mammoth total by Glenn Halford who added thirteen ton plusses of his own over the course of the evening.

Both players fired in 180s, whilst Mann's 110 checkout that bagged the highest of the match proved to be crucial in the five leg win for the Octagon stalwart.

Mann (27.72) also won a leg in 18 darts with Halford riposte in 16 proving to be fruitless as he was eventually defeated 3-2.

Mann's teammate Lee Hellings was also in blistering form for the now confirmed champions with a thirteen ton personal haul in the match.

Hellings (29.47) bagged a brace of 180s during a 3-0 singles win that was further accented by legs in 13 and 18 darts. Neil White (31.31) claimed the only average that got the better of Hellings' attempt with a brace of 15 darters and one in 18 to take a 3-0 success.

White's victory saw him nail a maximum and check 103 in a single visit; both of which topped up a personal ton tally of eleven.

Also netting eleven tons in the match was Dave Matthews who defeated Lee Roberts 3-2 in the singles in spite of Roberts' 108 checkout.

Roberts effort usurped a 100 kill from Glenn Austin whilst the only individual winner for the visitors was James Stoodley who checked legs in 16 and 18 darts during a 3-1 triumph.

A second 16 darter was hit by Fred Goldsmith with a 17 darter alongside it in a 3-1 triumph that made it five out of six singles; this after the Stonehouse went 1-0 team down and were level 2-2 after four played.

Great credit must be given to the new champions who have been relentless all season; averaging 9.7 points per eleven leg contest; being beaten just once in forty-one outings.
