A PLYMOUTH optician who is backing a children's literacy campaign is urging people to sign up to a scheme which helps struggling readers get up to speed.
Staff from Specsavers Plymouth are among those taking part in the Schoolreaders Race for Reading event, created by a charity which has a network of volunteers who listen to children read in primary schools.
The Race for Reading event aims to get participants to sign up to sponsored walks, swims or cycles, with every mile recorded. The aim is for participants to collectively travel 25,000 miles, making it 'Around the World in 80 Days'.
