Over 60 arrested in police crime crackdown

MORE than 60 people were charged over shoplifting, drug dealing and criminal damage in just two months as police launched a crime crackdown in Plymouth. Police bosses said the charges in May and June followed an operation to make the city a safer place.

It included high visibility patrols and officers gathering information from the community about crime. Police also worked in collaboration with Plymouth Against Retail Crime (PARC).

It saw 42 charges brought for shoplifting, 11 for criminal damage and 10 for drug dealing offences. Police said those charged “are now awaiting sentencing from the courts”.
