PLYMOUTH PARKWAY 1 (Jones 71)
POOLE TOWN 0
With Ryan Lane, Shane White and Callum Hall all unavailable due to injury, three changes to the starting line up from Saturday’s game at Sholing were made with Matt Wright, Dylan Jones and Callum Rose replacing Reece Thomson, Alex Cairo and Hall.
Poole made the early running with Mikey Williams doing well in the fourth minute to block a goalbound effort from inside the 18 yard area. Kyran Samadi then broke quickly along the left with Parkway forced to defend their six yard area as Poole continued their sharp start.
Parkway were struggling to get into the game and were dealt a blow on 16 minutes with Cameron Sangster forced off with an injury and replaced by Alex Cairo. This resulted in a slight change of shape and also positional changes for a couple of players.
Parkway created their first half chance on 20 minutes with Rio Garside pulling a shot narrowly wide after a good passage of play along the right. Cairo then fired wildly over on 22 minutes as Parkway began to win more possession in midfield and look to gain some control.
However it was Poole who almost took the lead on 23 minutes with Callum Rose putting his body on the line bravely blocking a Toby Holmes close range effort with Jake Scrimshaw firing the rebounded loose ball narrowly wide.
With Cameron Murray dictating play for the visitors in midfield, Poole continued to press and on 30 minutes a deep cross from the right by Declan Rose floated narrowly wide. Callum Rose then picked up the game’s first yellow card by illegally preventing a Poole breakaway from midway in their own half.
