Ukraine talks continue

UNITED States negotiators were working yesterday to hammer out details of a proposed partial ceasefire in Ukraine, meeting with representatives from Russia in Riyadh a day after holding separate talks with a Ukrainian team.

Each side has accused the other of undermining efforts to reach a pause in the three-year-old war.

Kyiv and Moscow agreed in principle last Wednesday to a limited ceasefire, after US President Donald Trump spoke with the countries' leaders, but different views have been offered of what targets would be off-limits from attacks.

While the White House said “energy and infrastructure” would be covered, the Kremlin declared that the agreement referred more narrowly to “energy infrastructure”. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he would also like to see his country’s railways and ports protected.
