Water campaigner is hit on Hoe appearance

The former front man of The Undertones said giving the SWW chief executive a 58% raise was showing "contempt" for customers at a time when people in Brixham are still having to boil their water, and said: "We've been cheated."

Speaking to Labour activists and wild swimmers on Plymouth Hoe, as part of his national Stop the S*** Show tour, he called for voters to "demolish the system" and elect a Labour government on July 4 and create "a legacy we can leave our children and our children's children"

Mr Sharkey said it was ironic that he was speaking overlooking Plymouth Sound which, he said, had raw sewage pumped into it.

This week it was revealed that Ms Davy's pay package had swelled by 58% after picking up a £298,000 shares bonus, despite pollution incidents nearly doubling in 2023. The annual report from SWW's parent firm, Pennon, revealed her pay leapt to £860,000 in 2023/24, from £543,000.
