WORK will start next month on a scheme in St Budeaux Square which aims to strengthen its role as a key public transport interchange.
The work aims to make the most of the square’s location on key bus routes as well as access to rail services, and to turn it into a sustainable transport interchange connecting commuters from Plymouth, South-East Cornwall and West Devon with employment and healthcare opportunities at Derriford Hospital and the city centre and waterfront growth areas.
The scheme (illustrated, right) is designed to improve the connections between two or more forms of sustainable transport (for example, by rail, bus and bike or on foot) and transform the area – which is already home to two rail stations – into an important and busy interchange. It will involve:
