Conditional permission for house repair irks Joshimath

Houses developed cracks in Joshimath in Chamoli district due to land submergence in January last year. Government sources said only 217 families have received full compensation for their damaged or affected buildings.

"Permission has been granted for the temporary repair of residential buildings categorized as 'green' and 'yellow' in Joshimath. Orders to this effect have also been issued," Chamoli district magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said on Friday.
