Efforts underway to develop alternative trekking route for Kedarnath pilgrimage

TO make the Kedarnath pilgrimage safer, simpler and accessible, the Uttarakhand government has embarked on a project to develop the Toshi-Triyuginarayan-Kedarnath route as an alternative pathway.
As part of the initiative, a 16-member team, led by Chief Minister's special advisor Colonel (Retd.) Ajay Kothiyal, has conducted a ground survey of this ancient route dating back to the Pandava era.
The team members expressed confidence that the route is completely safe from landslides and subsidence, making it a potential first choice for future pilgrims visiting the shrine.
Colonel Kothiyal, citing several team members, informed this newspaper that the "Kedarnath-Toshi-Triyuginarayan footpath" has historical significance linked to the Pandavas.
