'TOO POOR' MP RAKES IN £240K

Tory won't give up his extra earnings

A SENIOR Tory who moaned his ministerial salary left him too poor to pay his mortgage is now coining it in with a string of highly paid side jobs - and has no plans to give them up.

George Freeman earns £240,000 a year on top of his £91,346 MP's salary, thanks to six lucrative advisory roles, and puts in just 45 hours a month to make all his extra money.

From October, MPs will be banned from taking jobs which involve giving "advice on public policy and public affairs" or "advice in general terms about how Parliament works".
