What prompted you to get into visual arts?
I am an artist by nature. From early childhood I have been good at art like sketching, painting of various kinds, tatting, crochet, and anything handmade! To this day, I create artworks from anything around me. Instead of trashing I create a work of art (planters) even from broken stuff from the kitchen. My art work like handmade greeting cards, Batik, Tanjore and Mysore paintings were marketed through the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (CAUVERY).
Are you self-taught or did you undergo any training in photography?
Around 2015 I used to take pictures and videos of birds in our backyard. Noticing my interest, my son and husband suggested I should take it to the next level. I started learning the nuances of photography from a neighbor and friend, Mr R Dev who is an accomplished photographer. Joining Youth Photographic Society in 2016 catapulted my passion and learning graph. Interaction with like-minded members of the club helped improve my skills and many awards and distinctions came as a by-product.
