FLYERS UPDATE

My calf injury survived Swansea 70.3 and I came sixth in my age-group – a bit disappointed but glad I finished. It’s a strange one to think that a 70.3 was a training day but it did fall perfectly as a pre-Tenby core session. True grit’s necessary for training in this unusually hot summer but Susie and Rob have reassured us that heat training is good for us!”
GERAINT JONES
Training’s ramped up to 16-plus hours in the bigger weeks, and that’s been tricky to manage with life, work and football coaching. But the end is in sight and the training has been punctuated with a couple half-iron events (Cotswold Classic and Swansea 70.3) to keep the focus. The one worry is an ongoing Achilles niggle.”
LISA STOCKDALE
I’m delirious from the amount of training so two weeks of taper seems like an oasis of sleep and being able to see friends again. I’m really enjoying the early mornings (because it’s just so hot during the day!) and feel like I’ve got into a nice rhythm while swimming. I’m feeling less confident about the run but I’m sure it’ll come together on the day!
