As the Easter deadline for the Princess of Wales’ return to royal duties looms, the world is waiting to see if she’ll open up about what’s kept her out of the public eye for so long.
But while she’s well within her rights to stay silent about personal health matters, she may decide to release a few details via chats with well-wishers, according to royal experts.
Longtime friends of Kate, 42, and her husband Prince William, 41, have told British royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah that Kate would rather answer questions from members of the public than make a grand announcement.
It’s been suggested that Kensington Palace may put out a statement explaining what she’s been through, but the friends say the couple are “at their most open when out interacting with members of the public” and they can see Kate possibly discussing her recovery that way.
“They will want to be more open but they’ll do it when they feel ready. I would expect that to be her instinct and it will be her call. They’re not going to be rushed.”
Kate will also not be hurried when it comes to making her first official appearance following the abdominal surgery she had in January. While Kensington Palace announced in its initial statement that she would be out of action until Easter, her return to work might not actually happen for a few more weeks.
