Mum & Dad might be offended if I moved to THE COUNTRY!'

You’re now hosting a new TV quiz, Fastest Finger First, but have you had any embarrassments when taking part in quizzes? I appeared on a Children in Need special of University Challenge and really let myself down. I grew up in Yorkshire, I’m a massive Kate Bush fan and I love the Brontës, but I managed to get the wrong sister when asked who had written Wuthering Heights. Everyone was fine about it, but it wasn’t fine for me – someone who comes from Bradford, just around the corner from where the sisters lived.

Before filming a TV or radio show, do you observe any superstitions or little rituals? No, because I grew up with so many superstitions. It’s such a part of being Indian, and my mum is constantly on the phone to me saying things like ‘Make sure you water your plants on a Wednesday.’ I’ve almost gone the other way and don’t have any superstitions at all.

But are you still close to your mum and dad? Very. I moved them down to London from Yorkshire so they could live near my husband and me in the east of the city.
