Straightforward, well-informed, no-nonsense yet polite. Richa Chadha is always a pleasure to chat with.
After debuting in a small role in the comedy film Oye Lucky! Her breakthrough came in 2012 with a supporting role in the noir gangster saga Gangs of Wasseypur, where her role as the bellicose and foul-tongued wife of a gangster earned her a Filmfare Award.
Richa began her career as a model and then she moved to theater. She has performed plays touring in India.
She gets into a deep heart-heart conversation with Women Fitness India, on the roles she chose, healthy lifestyle choices, and changing dynamics in the industry.
Richa you have been in the industry for over a decade, from your modelling days to being an actor what has been your source of inspiration and motivation?
It still feels surreal that it has been over a decade in the industry. My source of inspiration and motivation has to be the urge to tell stories, stories about fearless women that motivates other. I hope to continue to do that and play different roles and variety of characters that inspire other people and my audience.
Coming from a non-film background and family, how did you decide to be an actor and get into the industry? Initial struggles you faced?
True that, being an outsider it was difficult to break into the industry especially with the kind of roles I chose to play like my breakthrough role was gangs of wasseypur which was a not glamorous role.
