The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced and initiated the concept of an Open Network for Digital Commerce or ONDC this year.

It aims to democratize the online market in India for buyers as well as sellers, irrespective of their size with this marketplace aggregator model. Players will move from a platform-centric model to an open network.
