मन का निग्रह कैसे किया जाय इस बारे में बताते हुए भगवान श्रीकृष्ण उद्धवजी से कहते हैं: \"मन ही सुख-दुःख का कारण है और संसार भी मनःकल्पित है। जिसे संसार का दुःख नष्ट करना हो उसे अवश्य ही मन पर काबू पाना चाहिए क्योंकि मन के सिवाय दुःख देनेवाला त्रिभुवन में दूसरा कोई नहीं। मन अत्यंत चंचल है, वह सहसा स्थिर नहीं रहता। इसलिए जिससे भेदभाव दूर हो सके ऐसा विचार करने का अवसर उसे दिन-रात देना चाहिए।
