JAYNE ROSS gained her seventh Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) supreme win when heavyweight winner and hunter champion Twinshock Warrior (Bernard) impressed judges Terry Court and Tim Price to claim the Supreme Products supreme ridden horse title.

“We had a lovely lot of horses forward, but this horse walks and moves and looks like one you could sit on all day,” said Tim. “For a big horse, he floated, and he is a proper, quality heavyweight — they are few and far between.”

Jayne had the choice of four champions to ride in the supreme: Jill Marsden and Tanya Moulden’s Bernard, Forgelands Hyde Park (hack), Church Rock Cashel (small hunter) and Casino III (riding horse).

“I’m speechless,” said Jayne. “We’ve enjoyed an amazing week with the most superb team of horses and Bernard pulled it out of the bag. He loves a big ring, but because he is so well balanced and has great cadence, he manages to close himself down with ease, without losing any charisma and scope in a small arena.”

With his swinging walk, Bernard managed to impress hunter judges Paul Scott and Terry Chalmers very early on.

“After four strides of walk, barring any upsets, he looked a winner from the start,” said conformation judge Terry.

Robert Walker took the hunter reserve riding Jill Day’s winning middleweight Northern Pride.

Jayne kick-started her tremendous week by taking the hack championship riding Miranda Wallace’s large winner Forgelands Hyde Park (William), who had finished second here for the past two years.

Fresh from their championship triumphs at the Royal International (RIHS) and the British Show Horse Association (BSHA) championships, the pair gave a flawless display, Jayne again needing just one hand on the reins to show William’s manners, movement and obedience.

Olympic eventer Tine Magnus has denied ever doping after her Paris ride Dia Van Het Lichterveld Z gave a positive test at the Games. This means the Belgian team, which came fourth, has been disqualified. On 4 September, the FEI said the 10-year-old mare, owned by Kris van Vaerenbergh, tested positive for trazodone, which is listed as an antidepressant on the FEI's prohibited substances list.
