Artist Wil Freeborn Talks You Through How He Used Watercolour Pencils for the First Time to Create This Charming Urban Scene
I usually work with watercolour in pans so when I was asked to do a demonstration using watercolour pencils, I leapt at the chance to try them. Here you can see the lessons I learned. With practice and confidence, I could become a bit looser and less formal in how I approached using the medium, but I found the variety and subtlety of the colours available were close to my typical watercolour palette. www.wilfreeborn.co.uk
1 I started by stretching the paper onto a board, although you could work directly on unstretched paper for a small image. I drew the scene with a blue pencil that will rub out without smearing, rather than use graphite.
