The ArcelorMittal Orbit towering over the London Skyline is a 115-metre high observation tower. It is 22-mtrs taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York and offers unparalleled views of the entire 250 acres of the Olympic Park and London’s horizon.
Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond joined forces to design a landmark tower for the London Olympics 2012. They wanted a trans-form over the Olympic park that spoke of fragile stabilities and initiated geometries of the nonlinear.
London continues to grow as an emerging force of social and cultural change, and the ArcelorMittal Orbit (Orbit) weaves a metaphor for such a trace. The Orbit is an icon of British culture today – the symbol of the London 2012 Olympic Games broadcast across the globe.
