Inconversation with Dr Prashanth Reddy, Managing Director, FunderMax India, he highlights about the journey of FunderMax India Pvt Ltd in last 10 years; how the brand has customized and provided cutting edge product solutions to establish itself as a leading Facade Cladding brand in India.
1. In creating the market presence and mind share as a Facade Cladding brand, how do you reflect on the milestone of this journey?
The journey of FunderMax in Indian market has completed a decade. FunderMax is owned by Constantia Industries AG, one of the largest industrial companies in Austria. FunderMax India Pvt Ltd. (FIPL) is a 100% subsidiary of FunderMax GmbH, Austria.
For a large Multinational company, India was a very promising market on account of its market size and favourable market conditions. Initially we were looking at starting a Joint venture with a partner which unfortunately did not realize. We had also initiated the setting up of manufacturing facility in Mumbai for which land was also acquired, however the business plan was discontinued after analysing the market condition which was very price sensitive and largely unorganized. We had conducted extensive market research study and based on its findings it was planned to initiate the marketing operation first and creating the market. The commercial marketing operation was setup in Bengaluru which was selected out of two other cities – Mumbai & Delhi as it had large database of architects.
As the market was largely unorganized, we started with focussed driven approach where reference projects were created showing expertize and delivering high quality and value. This helped us to expand our reach to over 60 cities in India with over 40 business partners delivering together over 10,000 projects in last 10 years. We have also been able to start our marketing operation in SriLanka & Nepal.
2. Indian Design community are already experimenting a lot with new building materials, specially in facade design, so how does your product give desired edge to architects & designers?
