Mahindra Marazzo

We Say: Mahindras Latest Shows Promise, Couldve Been Better Finished.

Mahindra Marazzo

A huge gap has existed in the people mover end of things. We have the ever-popular Innova on one hand and the Ertiga on the other, with a couple of foot notes in between. Others have tried to squeeze into that space and make a name for themselves, however, none have managed to make it stick. If you ask anybody to name three UVs in the market, people will scratch their heads to find a third one. But Mahindra was present with the Xylo until some time back, and now with the Marazzo, it hopes to regain that spot and do even better.

This car marks a bit of a shift in the way Mahindra develops products. The manufacturer has used its global assets to put the Marazzo together with its design studio working closely with Pininfarina and engineers from Chennai working closely with the North American arm to bring the Marazzo to life. In fact, the bulk of the development was seen through in North America before it was shipped over to India for further proving. But, have they managed to find the answer to fill in that massive gap in the market?

For starters, the Marazzo is a sleeker shape than anything else that comes out of the Mahindra stable currently. There isn’t a single square line, although the entire design story that flows from the shark is a bit difficult to digest. A people mover is generally a difficult shape to work with and there isn’t really one that comes to mind that would leave anyone gaping in admiration. This is about functionality and being acceptable to look at. Large windows and subtle breaks in surfaces does well enough with no overly styled elements to come across as jarring.
