Tim Baker is a retired insurance executive living in Tacoma, Washington. Like all of us, he’s a loyal Mopar fan whose motto is “Mopar or no car.” But what separates Tim from the crowd is the role his wits, left thumb, and right foot played in Race Hemi history. The year was 1965, the dawn of the Hemi era, and at a mere 17 years of age, Tim punched the push-button TorqueFlite shift buttons and mashed the accelerator pedal aboard the Hemi Wagon and the former Golden Commandos #5 Race Hemi Plymouth hardtop, two of the most significant Hemi door slammers in drag racing history.
