Biggest & Best!

Peter Love completes his round-up of the 25th Historischen Feldtag Nordhorn on 11-13 August.

Biggest & Best!

In the last issue I concluded by looking at the tractors in the Holder area and this led nicely to the MB trac section, where there were around 50 examples to look at, with many featuring implements. I have never seen so many of this make in one place before – it was amazing!

Hartmut Diekmann’s 1973 65/70 grey and red example stood out with its Krone Emsland trailer, but the highlight for me was a half-size model of a 1500 entered by Youngtimer Landtechnic, Nordhorn, complete with a half-size Krone trailer behind with full hydraulics.

The line-up of machines featured implements from Niemeyer, Lemken and Veenhuis, as well as a Champion 2200 forage harvester and a Franquet topper on a fine-looking MB trac 900 turbo. Jonas Warnewcke’s 1991 MB trac 1800 was equipped for forestry work with a Werner winch on the front and two more on the back, along with a fine log grab. Completing the package was a huge hydraulically-operated anchor. What a machine!

Another stunning machine was a metallic silver and ‘Brunswick’ green 1300 example with Lemken rotavator on the front and planter on the back.

I dodged the showers, which came and went as I walked around the 70-plus Unimogs on display – with a crude-looking 1949 Boehringer 70200 being the oldest. Nevertheless the display was magnificent, with a number featuring trailers, and the most popular models were the U401, U406 and of course the 411. The later U1200, U1500 and U2100 of 1998 brought the make more up-to-date.
