Steve and Jackie Lambert originally acquired this unusual vehicle in 2018 from a friend who had imported not one, but two of them from South Africa. “As soon as we saw it, we knew that the past was going to be our future, so off we went, back in time... The much larger capacity of the Jürgens provides us with the option of taking our grandchildren on camping holidays with us, whilst at the same time enabling us to travel in our usual classic Volkswagen style.
“Regrettably, I don’t know much about its history, other than the fact that the previous owners’ names were ‘Jan & Francien’. They were obviously fond of the Jürgens and looked after it very well, they’ve even painted their names onto the back panel. I have left the names there as it is a part of this very rare camper’s history. Apparently only 1,000 were ever built, but it has a staggering survival rate, with approximately 750 owners in the Autovilla Owners Club on Facebook.

Lance & Lisa Beaver tell the story of their...‘Old School' Westfalia Bay
The history of our bus is varied. I heard that it used to belong to a soccer player who lived in it for a while, and a tale of a cross country trip that was taken in it. Since we’ve owned it, we have been to numerous car shows with our car club Kahiko Kula and enjoy that immensely, but taking it camping is our joy.
