Cheryl has always loved camping, Darren is more of a hotel guy, so they decided a campervan would give them the best of both worlds and, as Darren has always been a v-dub person, it was inevitable that a VW camper was the way to go. Split screens were considered but after hiring a T4 for a holiday in Somerset and Devon they were smitten with the idea of something a bit more modern and started looking for one of their own. At Camper Jam back in 2015 they spotted this T5 version in the for sale area; based on a white 2005 1.9tdi T28 model with cruise control, it had been converted originally by Dub Craft and featured an L shape lounge with kitchen, cooker, sink and cupboard units, which fitted their needs perfectly and so a deal was done.
In order to make the bus a bit more distinctive than a plain white van, Darren decided to bring in some colour, opting for a custom mix velvet purple base with purple, red and silver pearls. Instead of opting for the usual two tone upper and lower body split however, Darren decided to also spray the area around the windows and the door handles in the purple and to add some shaping to the bonnet and tailgate to create a different look. And as it was going to also be used to promote Dubs Collective and their shows, decals were also added. The Wolfrace 20” wheels were also sprayed in matching purple.

Lance & Lisa Beaver tell the story of their...‘Old School' Westfalia Bay
The history of our bus is varied. I heard that it used to belong to a soccer player who lived in it for a while, and a tale of a cross country trip that was taken in it. Since we’ve owned it, we have been to numerous car shows with our car club Kahiko Kula and enjoy that immensely, but taking it camping is our joy.

We’d wanted a splitscreen bus for years. And first got the bug, after hiring one for a holiday in Cornwall in 2009.
