Winner of several awards, including India’s Best Wellness Retreat 2018 award at the World Spa Awards 2018, Niraamaya Retreats has a bouquet of boutique properties that are an inspiring blend of luxury hospitality and bespoke wellness. Its flagship property, Niraamaya Retreats Surya Samdura—set along the winds-swept coastline of Kovalam—is a Relais & Châteaux property.

The next five years will see Niraamaya spreading its footprint deep within the northeast of India, Goa and Rajasthan, with plans to bolster the portfolio from six properties to 15. It recently open the doors of Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond, Kumarakom, a water-fronted property on the banks of the picturesque Lake Vembanad.

Manu Rishi Guptha, CEO of Niraamaya talks about creating significant hospitality milestones and putting wellness at the core of the Niraamaya philosophy.

Niraamaya Retreats is on an expansion spree. What is on agenda?

Over the last two years we have invested our energy in the opening of Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond, Kumarakom. There are challenges of setting up a hotel in a geographical location like Kumarakom. Now that we have launched it, we are receiving rave reviews. Our next step would be to develop formidable wellness circuits in the north and northeast of India. We are looking at setting up a repertoire of hotels in destinations such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Kolkata, Shillong, Guwahati, and are also looking for land in Sikkim. Our next property will most likely open in Goa, where we have bought a dramatically beautiful piece of land—all of 14 acres, where we intend to construct one of the finest retreats of about 50 to 60 rooms.

That is a small number of keys in a 14 acres property…
