On January 8, the Supreme Court acceded to the wish of a girl, saying that she was now a major and entitled to enjoy her freedom and the courts should not assume the role of a “super guardian”. Her estranged parents have been fighting legal battles for her custody.
“A major is entitled to the freedom of choice. As long as the choice remains, the court cannot assume the role of the super guardian, moved by the sentiment of the mother or the egotism of the father,” the court said.
