Legal luminary and Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Neelakanta Ramakrishna Madhava Menon passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, 8 May 2019, due to liver cancer.
Wonder Years
Prof. (Dr.) Madhava Menon was born on 4 May, 1935 in a Nair family to Bhavani Amma and Ramakrishna Menon, his father who was a law graduate and a revenue officer for Travancore Corporation. His father passed away due to typhoid when he was two years old. He had three sisters who were elder to him and one younger brother. He had one more brother who passed away early after his birth.
Humble and Humane
Prof. (Dr.) Madhava Menon will be remembered as a humble and dedicated teacher, an ideal parent and a caring husband. Senior advocate R. Venkataramani at Supreme Court remembers the sweep of his intellect and his deep engaging mind that revealed his burning desire to inject new meanings and directions to legal education when she was a student in the Government Law College at Puducherry in 1974.
